Create a global pricing rule
Prepare a weight-based change to product variant prices. Saving the rule and applying the bulk change are separate actions.
- Open Sales → Sales Configuration → Pricing → Global Pricing and choose Create global rule.
- Set Price Rule Name and Description to explain the intended change.
- For the weight-based calculation described here, choose Weight Per Unit in Pricing strategy. Enter Global price as the positive rate to multiply by each active variant's weight.
- Add the intended item rows under Global pricing strategy. Keep the selection to at most 1,000 distinct items with no duplicate rows. Applying the rule affects the active variants of each selected item, rather than only one variant; use separate rules and checks for a larger change.
- Choose Create global rule.
- Find the new rule in Draft. Check its name, selected items, strategy, and Global price before considering application.
For example, a rate of 2.50 applied to a variant whose stored weight is 4 produces a price of 10.00. Check that the rate and the stored variant weight use compatible units before applying a change. These example values are not defaults.
The rule remains a preparation record until you explicitly choose apply on its row. Application overwrites the selected active variants' standard prices. Read the global-pricing explanation and compare the scope and expected prices before that action.
Create the rule first, then review its scope and expected prices before applying it. A saved Draft rule has not performed the bulk change.
